Last Show…

DSC_0030

Had my last outdoor show in Door Co. over the weekend. It was at Fineline Design Gallery in Ephraim: Townline Art Fair with 40 plus years running now… It’s a beautiful show with about 75-100 artists. This weekend in Door Co. is the busiest of the year with tourism, fall colors at full peak. I went to the show with my daughter and Kate and two other artists: Tammy Rae Wolter and Lissa Flemming. We had a great time. It made the weekend easier as well with tent help, snoring, and Kate our coffee runner….and don’t forget marketing eagle eye. Glad to be done with outdoor shows. It was 32 degrees each morning when we arrived and all of us had on boots, coats and gloves. Tammy even brought a propane heater for her tent. It was pretty sweet. Just randomly tossing pics up of things I made for the show. These earrings I made for a good customer. She actually wants a necklace but I wanted to start small and see if she liked these first before we dive into a huge calla lily necklace.  Earrings Link: https://www.etsy.com/listing/207171871/calla-lily-pearl-earrings-sterling?ref=shop_home_active_3

Happy Easter!

DSC_0239

Happy Easter! And to celebrate spring here is a Ocean Blue Chrysocolla… I have several of these stones brought back from Tucson from a friend of mine. They have been life savers for my eyes from a long dreary winter. I was tired of looking at Earth tone stones. I’m tired in general of grey, wintery, no color landscape I live in and had to breathe a breath of fresh air into things… These stones did the trick.

This is a spinner ring sent off now to Montana. I have never made such an elaborate spinner… The band is patterned, stamped with a saying, the edges rolled over and three textured spinning bands on the main band. These rings are fun to make and wear. The first time I made a spinner ring I said I was never making another one. That was about 5 years ago and I have made so many now…. I lost count. Custom Order 18K Gold and Sterling Ring sent off to Japan this morning! Wish I could have oxidized it but my customer did not want it that way. I will make another one and oxidize that one and the gold will just be amazing looking again the antiqued silver.

Had a busy week wrapping up custom work. I have not had the typical slow time after Christmas which is a first… I won’t hold my breath though. I will just thank God and keep working. Happy Easter everyone. It is a favorite Holiday of mine so I hope you enjoy. I still have a few snow banks here and will be happy to see them melt. The first day the sun is out I will probably enjoy a good sunburn.

Last Picture… My daughter was sick of my mannequin being… well she is not really naked, but ‘undressed.’ So she fashioned some clothes out of shop rags for the mannequin and pinned them on. It’s pretty stylish with a wrap that goes to the floor, nice job Savannah.

New Display Booth, Mom’s, and Happy Valentine’s Day

DSCN2314

New display starting to take form. The display is from Dynamic Display Systems: http://www.DynamicDisplaySystems.com. They are really nice and have a lot of options. This is 40 inches tall (table top), locking glass doors, completely fold up and retractable. I am trying to dress them down….why? Too fancy for my rustic appeal… but I needed something that was enclosed. The bottom part I am making from Canvas/Linen. It comes in black fabric or black panels from the company. So I am switching to canvas/linen table covers…. I can’t sew…..shucks. Hmmm…. MY MOMMY sews!!!! Thank goodness. She came over and sewed for two days. I got all new table covers from some huge canvas/linen painters tarps. I’ll show it all to you when I have my first show March 9th. I purchased 3 of these glass displays, 2 of the one shown and one smaller square/double stacked glass case- all with interior lights not shown. Only downfall… really $$$$$. Had to choke on my credit card numbers as I gave them out, eeekkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I want new camera!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shhh…don’t tell.

1961 Husqvarna Viking Sewing Machine. My Grandmother bought it new in 1961. What makes it special??? Has a low gear. Great for sewing things like Canvas. Works like a dream. Guess who else sews but not me: my hubby. He is good at it too because he reads blueprints all the time and is very detail orientated. Why is he not doing it. I wanted to make a mess and he is not good at that and I ask him to do too much stuff – which he always does awesome better than I even need. He is always making me something. Thank God for Mom’s. Last pic here is adding ‘Industrial Strength’ Velcro to the Canvas that will go on the tables as skirts. Not kidding package said ‘Industrial Strength’ and I think it would stick to anything and never come off… wow, strong.

DSCN2320 DSCN2319Taylor made for me. This pretty much says it all. I hung it front and center in my shop.

DSCN2320

This too: ‘How Would Your Family Behave If They Came Home And Found You Blissfully Lying Down?” Hilarious…. This is a clutch purse but I hung it up as a picture.DSCN2344 DSCN2350

This piece was a whispering surprise. I did not expect it to delight me like it has. When you use faceted gemstones there is just something magical about them… These White Topaz: one at the top a 6mm Rose Cut White Topaz and the briolette at the bottom just really did something for this piece. The stone is so beautifully understated and the gemstones just made it all work. I did not like the piece as I was making it. I fell in love with it as I set the stones. It’s like a watercolor, a soft kiss, feminine beauty. Can you tell I love it? Did I mention, I love it.

DSCN2359

Just for Valentine’s Day: Red Top Agate, Garnets… This piece is not very big, but it’s color packs a punch… and talk about packing a punch! A Bar Fight Ring is to follow…..

DSCN2391

This ring has two adjustable bands: A Roman Ring. It’s a power house. I put it on and it feels like you are the Queen or something. You can’t garden in this ring but you can be a judge on American Idol wearing this ring, ha!!!!!!!! Crazy Big.

New Stuff and a Repair

Queen of Hearts Rhodocrosite Stone Necklace….

Labradorite Brush Finished Ring….

Kyanite Stone Necklace…..

Repair Moonstone Ring… Goofy liner in it to compensate for the stone not being cut evenly. One side of the stone was sloped more than the other. This half of a liner in the setting let the one side be pushed down while the other side sat flush. Funny, but it works. Sometimes you will find sawdust in rings or other goofy things to prop up the stone in some way. Ring is good as new and one size smaller. Amazing that the repair is as much as the ring probably cost.

I like repairs. They can be tedious but you learn a lot and they are financially a good choice to do.

Necklace for Lin

This is the beginning pendant for a customer who like another piece of mine but it was a little on the large size for her so she asked if I could do something similar and down size it a bit. This is the start of if. It will be prong set with the set of U shape pieces of silver you see in the photo. I cut the U shapes after they are soldered on to make the prongs.
